Mark Given, CMO at Sainsbury’s and Argos
Originally from Northern Ireland, Mark graduated with a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. After a long chat with a Brand Manager at a recruitment fair he decided to turn his back on the construction industry and started with P&G as Asst. Brand Manager. In a 9 year career with P&G he rose through the ranks working on Pringles, Crest & Tampax! Working both in the UK and Switzerland.
Mark joined Scottish & Newcastle 6 weeks before the company got bought by Heineken. At Heineken he was responsible for the mainstream brands including Foster’s and John Smiths. He was responsible for hiring Adam & Eve and developing the Good Call campaign, Foster’s comedy sponsorship and the return of Alan Partridge as well as the return of Peter Kay on John Smith’s.
At the start of 2012 Mark joined O2as Head of Sponsorship looking after all the brands Music and Sports properties. He headed O2's range of entertainment and sport sponsorship deals, including O2-branded music venues and its backing of the England rugby union team.
Mark joined Sainsbury’s in 2013 initially responsible for all the advertising output landing a number of award winning Christmas campaigns. He has recently added responsibility for Sainsbury’s loyalty and targeted communications output.
