As President of The Marketing Society I am proud to invite you to enter our first ever Brave Awards.
In 2019 the Society will reach its 60th anniversary and we will be celebrating the huge contribution that marketing has made to business. But the traditional methods used by marketers over the past six decades can no longer be relied on - our world has changed and we must find brave new solutions to the global challenges that all our organisations face.
To reflect this, we have created a completely new set of categories and entry criteria. We are still looking for effectiveness and marketing excellence; all marketing activity should be effective - that is our day job - but what we really want to see are your exceptional marketing stories that truly demonstrate brave leadership in action. The judges will be a highly experienced group of marketing practitioners and I am honoured to be leading the panel through the process once again.
The awards night on 12 June 2019 will be a fantastic evening in Central London celebrating our new Brave Awards and will also be a highlight of what I am sure will be a very special 60th birthday year. I am really looking forward to reading your story and congratulating you in person. Good luck.

Diageo is the world's leading premium drinks business with a collection of beverage alcohol. Syl has been Marketing Society President since 2017 and is chief marketing officer of Diageo. She is also our Brave Awards 2019 Chair of Judges.

Michele “Mitch” Oliver has worked at Mars for 23 years, and of late has been the driving force behind Mars’ quest to put diversity and inclusion at the heart of its brand values – be via casting, creative or media partnerships.
McLaren Technology Group
John and his team’s work at McLaren has attracted industry recognition including a One Show Gold Pencil, British Market Research Award, British Retail Design Award, Cristal Award for Branded Content and a Gold Clio for Branded Entertainment.
GB&I Marketing Director
Aedamar began her career in stockbroking before taking a sales role in Coca-Cola Hellenic (CCH) in 1996, where she held a number of sales, category management, channel management and CCH brand management roles.
Direct Line Group
In the past 5 years Mark has overseen the transformation of DLG's brands, including the reinvigoration of the Direct Line brand. Mark was in the 2016 Marketing Power 100 and the 2016 Marketing Week Vision 100.
Group Brand Director
Michelle has spent equal time in creative agencies and client marketing jobs, including leadership roles at McCann-Erickson, BBDO and BBH working across brands such as Barclays, British Airways and Coca-Cola.

In 2015, Ruth was appointed Group Executive - Marketing for Dimension Data. In this role Ruth oversees the globally dispersed marketing function, is custodian of the Dimension Data brand, and has responsibility for the creation of propositions.
An Executive Committee member of Santander UK and its’ Chief Marketing Officer. Keith is a Board Member of the charity Career Ready, Trustee of the Santander Foundation, Council Member and Treasurer of ISBA and a Fellow of the Marketing Academy.
Becky is an award-winning marketer attracted to challenging roles and the opportunity to make a difference. Management Today selected her as one of 2015's '35 women under 35', and she has won multiple awards from Retail Week, Marketing Week Data Strategy.

As Chief Marketing Officer for The Walt Disney Company UK and Ireland, Anna is responsible for the overall marketing strategy with particular focus on integrated marketing opportunities across Disney's various business areas.
Prior to Thinkbox Lindsey had roles at advertising agencies including McCann Erickson and J Walter Thompson, working on some of the industry’s biggest clients and most famous TV-advertised brands.
Ramsay joined BT in 2007 and has held a number of roles. His most recent as customer acquisition director, where he oversaw BT's new ads ‘Behind the Scenes’, a parody of the advertising process that includes celebrities and BT clients.

The newly-appointed CMO at Formula E - the electric street racing series. Hiquet brings experience in brand development, sales, product innovation, media, customer activation for large corporations and fast-growing organizations.

A psychology graduate, Cheryl has spent her life fascinated by what makes people tick, and makes them do the things they do, and how to interpret the data to get to those answers.

Chris has a broad range of management responsibilities at the world’s largest integrated transport authority. His Customer brief encompasses strategy and Insight, Marketing and behaviour change, customer information and design and partnerships.
EVP Digital Transformation
Welde, who joined Unilever in 1991, has taken on the post of global vice president of digital transformation. As well as being a well-known face in the industry, he is also on the board of Singapore and China based media gaming and advertising start-up Ksubaka.
Steve Challouma is Marketing Director for the Birds Eye, Aunt Bessie’s and Goodfella’s brands in the UK. He has spent over 20 years in the FMCG industry, starting his career at Unilever.
